2025 Comprehensive Plan for the Playground and Woodward Park
In order to ensure that the Town’s playground continues to serve as a vibrant, attractive community hub, fostering play, exercise, and meaningful interaction for all ages, Town residents created a committee to devise a comprehensive plan that will serve as a long-range blueprint that can guide the future growth and development of the playground area in Woodward Park. In summer and fall 2025, the committee developed a draft plan and is submitting it to Town residents for comment and review.
- Divides the playground into various zones,
- Describes the current state of each zone,
- Proposes a vision for how each zone will contribute to a cohesive whole,
- Recommends changes to bring each zone into compliance with their respective vision, and
- Lists examples of equipment, as well as prices if available, that would fulfill the vision for each zone.

Note that adoption of this Plan does not mean that the Town Council is preapproving any expenditures; adoption represents only Council approval of the vision and recommendations for each zone. Town resident volunteers will use this approved plan to make future requests for equipment that conform to the vision and recommendations described here, subject to Council approval. Those requests would include costs for ground preparation, equipment purchase, installation, and maintenance. Budgetary considerations will always be a primary consideration as to whether the Council chooses to approve future expenditures.
